Artist profile: Hayes Roberts – Intro

Every month, I profile an artist who inspires my own art,
in several segments.

Hayes Roberts! His stuff is too cute. He’s got a Dr. Seuss thing going on, and I love his special touches, like swirlies in the clouds and water.

I unknowingly came across his art when I saw this llama three years ago. Then, a year and a half later, I stumbled upon his website, Blue Bison.net, and thought, “Hmm, this looks familiar.”

This is the llama.
This is the llama.

Here is the one bit of biographical info I found about Roberts: “Hayes Roberts has spent a night in a cell on Alcatraz, completed Ocarina of Time on the N64, and enjoys writing and illustrating children’s books.” He works in colored pencil and digital media, and paint when he does murals.

His very cute and sweet children’s books, which have been translated into several languages, are: Invisible Alligators, The Wiener Dog Magnet, The Brave Monkey Pirate, and coming soon, The Day The Screens Went Black (oooh).

Roberts also makes coloring pages, which are really cool. I just might print some out, color them, and post some here.

Here’s a preview of this month’s posts:
