Good news, everyone! I’ve acted on my long-time interest in sewing and am taking lessons now. My instructor had me practice on the machine without thread, and I think I did a pretty good job keeping to the lines, but the spiral was definitely more difficult. Those little dots are where the needle went into the paper!
What worked best for me was pressing the foot petal lightly, just enough to make the machine whine, and then rotating the wheel by hand so that I had a nice, slow movement of the needle. Otherwise it went too fast for me and I couldn’t control it.
