Artist profile: Lady Viridis (Beth Zyglowicz)

Every month, I profile an artist who inspires my own art,
in several segments.

 

I found Lady Viridis (Beth Zyglowicz) quite recently. I think she has a charming style that’s well-suited to children’s illustration.

She works in watercolor, ink, colored pencil, and digital, using Microns, ballpoint pens, Prismacolor pencils, Photoshop CS2, and an Intuos 2 tablet. She names Ursula Vernon as an influence, who is a favorite artist of mine too.

Many of Lady Viridis’s artworks on her deviantArt page are for school projects, but a few are from a published book she illustrated, The Lap-Reluctant Cat. It’s pretty cute. She’s also the artist for an upcoming game called Weirspace.

This month I’ll be posting some of Lady Viridis’s art that I like, including some neat clay masks. Here’s a preview:
